My office tells you much about my interior life, which delights in the company of good books, good art, good architecture, and good company. I am a professor, and so my office is as much a part of my identity as the works that flow from my desk. I spend my hours there either writing at my desk, reading on one of the two soft chairs, or petting either of my gentle-hearted cats, Mycroft and Hastings. Cardinal John Henry Newman once quipped that "it is our duty to live among books," and this is what I try to do.
